Poor Tommy - Auburn has lost their minds...

Post  Admin on Fri Dec 05, 2008 10:26 am

I am a clear and undisputed Bama fan. But I have always cheered for Auburn when they were not playing us because of my extreme respect for Tommy Tuberville. He really is a great man. A friend of mine is an Alum from Auburn and has become friends with Tommy over the years. He said that Tommy influenced his team in wonderful ways. For example, each and every week Tommy would go to the Bible Study that the Team Chaplain would hold. As each passing week came, more and more of the team were attending. They were not forced or asked to go. They saw the difference it made in Tommy's life and wanted that too. By the end of the season, all but 2 of the players on the team came to Bible Study each and every time. The tightness and closeness of that team was unprecidented because those that pray together stay together. That was the year they went 13-0. Each year, the character and integrity was witnessed of Tommy, so in my opinion, he will be missed.

As for the controversy of whether he was fired or quit; I believe he was let go. I know that the AD at Auburn came out with his Academy Award Winning performance almost in tears that they tried and tried to get Tommy to stay, but I don't believe it. Tommy loved Auburn. His tenure there left a stamp of pride and accomplishment that cannot be replaced. Additionally, I know that his contract stipulated that he would get 6 million if he was fired. Nothing ever said that he would get the money if he quit. How many companies give you a severance for quiting? None that I know of. They cut him a check for 3 million the other day with the other to come in the not so distant future. They pushed him out and they will find that they made a grave mistake.

Just my two cents
